LAKE MUTANDA
The fairytale Lake Mutanda is located in the far southwest of Uganda, at the foot of the Virunga volcano chain. This impressive volcanic chain connects the countries of Uganda, Congo and Rwanda. Of the large number of volcanoes, three are located in Uganda, namely Mount Muhabura, Mount Sabinyo and Mount Gahinga. These volcanoes can be admired from the shores of the lake




NATURAL DIVERSITY
In the vicinity of Lake Mutanda there are several rainforests, habitat of the endangered mountain gorilla. The lake is therefore an ideal base for one of Uganda’s most special excursions, gorilla tracking. The mountain gorilla can be found in the nearby Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. However, a wide variety of animals and plants can also be found in the immediate vicinity of the lake. For example, it is possible to spot the kingfishers and the grey crowned crane. In addition to plants and birds, various species of snakes, otters, chameleons, frogs and lizards also live on the shores of the lake. In summary: a large collection of special animal species.
