ITINERARY TANZANIA GREAT MIGRATION

DAY 1

KARIBU TANZANIA

at Kilimanjaro Airport in the evening, where your guide is already waiting. After an initial introduction, it will take you about 45 minutes to drive to the first accommodation in the lush surroundings of Arusha. While enjoying a welcome drink, you will discuss tomorrow’s program with the guide. Karibu sana Tanzania!

DAY 2

OFF TO THE WORLD-FAMOUS SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

An exciting safari day is on the program. Today you will leave for the most famous nature park in the world; Serengeti National Park! On the way, you will make a photo stop at the Ngorongoro Crater and then start the safari on the way to your accommodation in the park.

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

The Serengeti National Park is one of the most famous game parks in the world. The Serengeti is home to the most extensive population of wildlife on earth and also includes the most complex and untouched ecosystem. Serengeti means “endless plain” in the language of the Maasai and that is what the Serengeti fully lives up to. On these plains, two million wildebeest, zebras and gazelles roam between the Serengeti and the Masai Mara in Kenya every year, in search of fresh grasslands.

JEEP SAFARI SERENGETI – AFTERNOON

During the safari you will enjoy the beautiful vast landscapes and all the wildlife that can be admired here. The Seronera Valley is known for its large numbers of felines. The guide will do his utmost to spot the lions, cheetahs and leopards for you! Apart from the felines, the attention is of course also focused on all other wildlife. In the afternoon you will go on a safari when the wildlife becomes more active again after a few hours of resting in the shade. In the evening you can enjoy a campfire with the sounds of the African wilderness in the background.

DAY 3

FULL-DAY SAFARI IN THE SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

This day is all about the beautiful Serengeti. You can choose to go on safari all day and have your packed lunch at a picnic spot. You can also go on safari early in the morning and return to your accommodation for a sumptuous brunch. In this case, you will go on another safari in the afternoon. You will discuss this with your guide on the spot.

JEEP SAFARI SERENGETI – FULL DAY

The Serengeti is a huge area that is as large as Belgium. You can go on safari here all day and enjoy the beautiful vast landscapes and all the wildlife that can be admired here. The Seronera Valley is known for its large numbers of felines. The guide will do his utmost to spot the lions, cheetahs and leopards for you! Apart from the feline, the attention is of course also focused on all other wildlife. Tired but satisfied, return to your accommodation at the end of the afternoon for the well-deserved sundowner after a day of thrills in the Serengeti.

DAY 4

IN SEARCH OF THE 2,000,000 MIGRATING UNGULATES

Today you will leave the central part of the Serengeti and set course for North Serengeti where the Serengeti borders the Masai Mara Nature Reserve in Kenya.

JEEP SAFARI TO NORTH SERENGETI (MARA)

Today you will be looking for the more than two million migratory ungulates that make an annual round in the Serengeti eco-system. Although this is a huge amount, they spread out quite often and it is not easy to find the herds, but you will have plenty of time to search. You are in the season of the river crossings of the Mara River. The wildebeest and zebras migrate through the Mara River at many different times in the months of July/August/September/October. Upon arrival in the area, you will immediately take a safari at the Mara River and immediately have a chance to see this unparalleled spectacle. Of course, there is also time for the predators that also reside in North Serengeti during this period.

DAY 5 AND 6

SAFARI AT THE INFAMOUS MARA RIVER

These days are all about safari along the banks of the famous Mara River, you organize these days together with your guide. Since the wildebeest often migrate through the river in the morning and in the afternoon, you can enjoy a well-deserved lunch at your accommodation between safaris.

JEEP SAFARI RIVER CROSSING SERENGETI – FULL DAY

During the safari you will search along the infamous Mara River. The excitement rises when you see large groups of wildebeest and zebras gathering along the shore and the giant crocodiles taking position, sometimes it takes hours before the first animals make the crossing. But once the first animals have gone, the rest will follow immediately and you will experience what you have always seen on television with programs such as Great Migrations and Planet Earth. A natural phenomenon that is difficult to match and very special and which is only seen by a small number of safari travellers!

BALLOON SAFARI SERENGETI – (OPTIONAL)

Today you will get up at 04:30 for the hot air balloon safari. You will see the sun rise as you fly silently above the vast wilderness, a breathtaking sight. Nature awakens and after an hour-long hot air balloon ride, you will land in a beautiful place where a champagne breakfast will be waiting for you. The balloon safari is always with other travelers.

DAY 7

LAST SAFARI AT THE MARA RIVER

After the morning safari, you will travel back to Central Serengeti on a safari. Along the way there is time to stop if there is still any wildlife to be seen. In the end, you will arrive at your accommodation in the Seronera Valley with a satisfied feeling and enjoy the campfire and later dinner.

JEEP SAFARI BACK TO CENTRAL SERENGETI (SERONERA)

At the end of the morning, you will continue the route to central Serengeti and the Seronera Valley. The Seronera Valley is known for its large numbers of felines. The guide will do his utmost to spot the lions, cheetahs and leopards for you! Apart from the feline, the attention is of course also focused on all other wildlife.

DAY 8

SAFARI TO KARATU

In the morning you take the time to enjoy an extensive breakfast or go on safari early again. You will then drive on a safari to the Ngorongoro crater, where you will enjoy the view of this immense caldera (collapsed volcanic cone) and then drive on to Karatu. You will arrive here in the afternoon, it is then time to enjoy the wonderful climate of the highlands and the comfort of your accommodation.

JEEP SAFARI SERENGETI TO KARATU

A last full morning you will wander the savannahs of the Serengeti for the last encounters with the wild animals. Around noon you will drive out of the Serengeti, via the Ngorongoro crater, to Karatu. Karatu is a nice village just past the Ngorongoro crater with a wonderful climate! Upon arrival, you can take a dip in the pool or relax in the sun-drenched garden filled with lovebirds.

DAY 9

ENJOY THE MORNING AND RETURN FLIGHT IN THE EVENING

Today you can relax in the garden of your lodge in the morning or take a walk at the Ngorongoro crater (possible from some accommodations). At the end of the morning you pack your stuff and drive in about four hours to Arusha where you can eat something (exclusive) before you are dropped off at Kilimanjaro airport.
